Barred Owl Family

Recently, in mid May 2026 we discovered that a pair of Barred Owls had moved into a cavity in a maple tree adjacent to the deck in the back yard of our home. We could hear them calling (loudly) during the night and often during the daytime and occasionally saw one of them perched in the cedar tree off of our family room. This cavity that they were living in had been chiseled out several years ago by a Red-breasted Sapsucker while I watched. A very efficient piece of work!
